The aim of this study was assessing two Persian translations of “The Bad Girl” by “Mario Vargas Llosa” based on Waddington’s Translation Quality assessment model that is basically holistic. The main aim was to see whether these two translations could truly demonstrate the socio-political context of the author’s time. In order to accomplish the above mentioned aim of the study, at first the political and social situation in Latin America especially during the 1950s and the 1960s, the time in which the setting of the story took place, was scrutinized. By doing so, problems like the impact of Cuban Communist Revolution, dictatorship and its social, political, economic and psychological effects were identified and those parts of the source text that contained the sociopolitical information were selected. At the next stage, the two available Persian translations of each sentence were assessed regarding the accuracy of transfer of the source text content and the quality of expression in the target language. The final goal of this investigation was to investigate which Persian translation was more successful in reflecting the socio-political context of the source text.
