Pharmaceutical product of Ephedra procera an Ethnobotanical study Statement of Problem There are various medicinal plants in nature that by studying their medicinal properties new horizons have emerged for researchers of different fields and have provided the basis for the production of new drugs and treatment of diseases with these plants. In many areas there are medicinal species that although botanically may not be new but they are locally used for pharmaceutical purposes that are unknown to pharmaceutical and medical science. Research Purpose This research has been carried out to identify ethnobotanical knowledge of Pharmaceutical product from a medicinal plant Ephedra procera in part of Fars province in Iran. Research Method This research was conducted in the field and referring to the eastern cities of Fars province. During this research while observing the stages of collection and processing of the ephedra plant product information on how to use it has also been gathered by interviewing. Results and Conclusion In the spring the roots of this plant are collected and dried then the roots are washed and left in water for a while after which the remaining water is filtered and boiled until it thickens the product is prepared in the form of small tablets and dried. This drug is used to reduce blood sugar and also to open blood vessels. This medicine should not be used in people with high blood pressure and its excessive use can cause seizures .
