Investigating a Blended Learning Environment: Contribution of Attitude, Interaction, and Quality of Teaching to Satisfaction of Graduate Students of TEFL

The purpose of this study was threefold: to explore graduate students’ attitudes, interaction patterns, perceptions of teaching quality, and satisfaction with blended learning technology; (b) to determine the relationship between learner’s satisfaction with attitude, interaction, and the quality of teaching; and (c) to investigate the extent to which attitude, interaction, and quality of teaching contributed to graduate students’ satisfaction. The participants were 140 graduate students of TEFL, who were studying at the e-learning campus of Iran University of Science and Technology. The instruments of this study were four types of questionnaire on learners’ satisfaction, attitude, interaction types, and quality of teaching followed by a semi-structured interview. The results of the study revealed a positive attitudes among undergraduate students of TEFL towards studying in blended learning environment. With regard to the quality of teaching, the teacher was found to help students as they received enough helpful feedback from her, motivating them to do more online learning. Regarding the interaction types of graduate students, results showed that learner-instructor interaction was found to be the most frequent pattern of interaction. The results also revealed that there was a strong positive correlation between satisfaction and the quality of teaching, while the lowest amount of correlation was found between the quality of teaching and learners attitude. The results also showed that the contribution of the quality of teaching to satisfaction was higher than that of interaction and attitude.کليدواژه ها
