چکیده
The present study seeks to scrutinize J.M.Coutzee s novel Foe in the light of Homi Bhabha s key concepts delivered in his landmark book, The location of Culture. The novel recounts the story of a castaway mother who incessantly looks for her girl. Foe s focus on nature, narrative and imagination on the question of who will remain silent are thoughtful responses to the questions of speech and silencing confronting Coutzee in his new role as a prominent South African novelist. Coutzee makes use of different storytelling techniques to transform Robinson Crusoe as a canonical text into a critical piece of writing against colonial repression. The events in this novel is as an apt case to be scrutinized through the lens of post-colonial theories put forward by Homi Bhabha. To do so, initially, we try to unravel the narrative of this novel and then apply Homi Bhabha s key terms in the novel critically.کليدواژه ها
