Using English Conjunctions in American Academic Articles and Iranian EFL Academic Articles online: A Comparative Study

چکیده
Omid Tabatabaei English Department, Najafabad Branch, Ialamic Azad University, Najafabad, Iran This study was aimed to investigate the difference between using English conjunctions in academic articles in Iran fron those written in the US. The researcher selected ten American academic articles, and ten Iranian academic articles from the Web (corpora), randomly. These articles were selected according to the names of the American and Iranian authors and the American and Iranian universities. All these articles have been read and the English conjunctions were identified, marked (highlighted), and counted in checklists by the researcher, twice. They have were assigned to two groups: “American” and “Iranian”. The results showed that American article writers used much more English conjunctions in their articles, than Iranians. The findings of this study can be used by English teachers, EFL book authors, article writers, and university students in Iran according to the corpus linguistics.کليدواژه ها
