Effects of Teaching Study Skills on Iranian Pre- Intermediate EFL Students’ Writing Narjes Heidari, Ph.D candidate narjesheidari5@gmail.com Azizeh Chalak, Associate Professor Azichalak@gmail.com English Department, Isfahan (Khorasgan) branch, Islamic Azad University, Isfahan, Iran Abstract It has been widely believed that writing, among the four language skills, is the most difficult skill. This is because it involves several components which have to be considered while a learner is writing, for example contents, vocabularies, grammatical structures, and writing mechanics such as punctuation and capitalization. The purpose of this study was to consider effects of teaching Study Skills on Iranian pre- Intermediate EFL students’ writing in a private institute in Isfahan. 60 pre intermediate learners were selected as the participants of the study. They were divided into two groups randomly. Both of the groups were asked to sit for a pre-test, treatment, and post- test. Afterwards the experimental group was taught study skills of writing. The data were statistically analyzed using t- tests run by SPSS software. The conclusion showed the performance of the learners in the both experimental and control groups improved from pretest to posttest. On the writing posttest, the learners in the experimental group managed to significantly outperform their counterparts in the control group. This boils down to the conclusion that providing the experimental group learners with the intervention in the form of teaching them how to deal with their stress and anxiety in a foreign language classroom helped them improve their writing skills.کليدواژه ها
